Elected Precinct Committeeman Packet

What is a Precinct Committee Person?

Precinct Committee person(s) (PCs) are the most grassroots-level building block of the Arizona Democratic Party. They are an important driving force behind registering voters, getting out the word on candidates, and helping Democrats understand the party’s structure, process, and platform. They are the people who go out, walk neighborhoods, and connect with and activate progressive Arizonans, talking to Independent, unaffiliated, and Democratic voters alike. Elections are won or lost in precincts and PCs are vital to ensure strong Democratic support for Democratic candidates and issues.

PCs are elected during the primary election and serve a two-year term. PCs can also be appointed by their  chair. Any registered Democrat is eligible to be a PC in the precinct where they live as long as they are ready to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

What are a PCs responsibilities?

Your precinct is your neighborhood. You know the people, the schools, and the community centers. You have your hand on the pulse of the precinct; you understand the problems and the potential, you have a desire to improve your neighborhood. The primary role of the PCs is to work together with fellow PCs, to serve as the connection between the Democratic Party, the voters and our Democratic elected officials, and to represent your entire precinct within the Party.

Some of the duties of a PC include:

Attend District Meetings – Attend monthly meetings of your county/district , where you will get to know other PC’s, learn what is going on in your County, and hear from candidates and elected officials.

Get Trained – Attend training sessions to improve your skills and effectiveness as a PC. Learn how to use the VAN (Voter Activation Network) maintained by the respective County Democratic Parties to create walking and phone banking lists.

Support Candidates – Support nominees of the Democratic Party and educate voters in your precinct about the Democratic Party, its nominees, and Democratic issues.

Canvass – Build relationships with Democrats in your precinct by door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and/or organizing informational gatherings to share information regarding Democratic candidate, issues or values.

GOTV (Get Out The Vote) – Help GOTV on Election Day (and when possible, throughout the 72 hours preceding Election Day).

MCDCC is divided into four districts- which are sub-divided into  neighborhoods which are referred to as "precincts."   Each precinct needs a precinct committee person assigned to it.

Each precinct has an elected or appointed precinct committee person we refer to as "PC's".    The work on the ground is performed by our PC's and volunteers.   If you want to get involved,  a good way to start is to attend one of our meetings.

District 1 includes the precincts of: Kingman (Central, North, South, East),  Golden Valley, Peach Springs, Dolan Springs, Chloride, White Hills, Truxton,  Hackberry,  Wikieup, and Meadview

District 2 includes the precincts of: Bullhead City, Mohave Valley & Oatman

District 3 includes the precincts of:  Lake Havasu City, Yucca, Topock/Golden Shores and Desert Hills.

District 4 includes the precincts of:  North Canyon, Littlefield,  and Moccasin
